Memorizing and delivering a speech, help please?

Question:So this monday I am giving a speech that will determine my grade in my class at school. It cant be longer than 4 minutes and it about three pages in MLA format. I need to memorize and deliver it but I always have trouble with that. It is in front of 60 people in my high school class.

Please, any tips on memorizng/delvering/stage fright will help!

Answers:
OK honestly don't memorize the speech verbatim as it will sound terribly rehearsed and boring.
I think you need to take your 4 pages there and write down the highlights of the speech on index cards. These are for reference only as a way to keep your train of thought and develop a flow of the speech.
You don't want to read it as then you cant maintain eye contact with your audience.
Keep eye contact or at least give that impression by looking at the audience shifting you gaze here and there.
Other than that practice practice practice.
I would assume you're allowed to have a notecard.
If so, make an outline of your speech using bullet
points guiding you to the main points of your speech.
Also, don't feel pressured to memorize your speech
word for word. If you have the main points and speak
on each of those as you move through your speech, you
will smoothly move through your speech.
Relaxxxx! No matter what happens you will get credit for doing something that almost everyone is afraid of. Also, your audience is filled with people who are just like you and will also cut you alot of slack because they understand that it is a difficult thing to do.

I am in college and I just finished speech 1. Our professor suggested that we practice in an empty classroom, in front of a friend or parent, or in front of a mirror. I suggest you tape yourself so you can be aware of the mistakes you tend to make. Don't use fillers like um. Don't waddle or fidget.

Practice at least tree times and give yourself a break, everyone else will. Good Luck :)
Memorizing can be difficult. This is why you should pick a subject that you are passionate about. You will do better if the subject is something you know inside and out. Reherse your speech over and over. It might also help to write the speech a bunch of times. Some people will memorize better reading it and some will remember it better by writing it multiple times. Do both, what will it hurt?

The hardest part will be that you will be delivering it in front of an audience. People think that they are supposed to get nervous or something.

The thing to remember is that you are supposed to pretend to be addressing the audience. Ignore them. Give your speech to the wall at the back of the room. If there is a clock on the back wall, give your speech to the clock. Do not look at the people, look past them.

Just remember, everyone else in your class has to get up there and do the exact same thing that you do. Next week no one will even remember what your speech was about. So screw it just do it and who gives a crap what anyone thinks, they will be up there feeling just as stupid as you.

oh, and keep note cards handy, in case you have a brain fart and get stuck. Just get up there and remember, everyone else will do just as bad as you think you will.
