I can't seem to get my self to study.. What should I do?
Question:My biggest fear is that I am going to screw up college like so many other kids do and I don't want to but I am doing it any way... we have had three test in my Medical terminology class and I got a 89 in one, 82 in the next one and 100 in the third one. so my average is about 90.. I have to get an "A" in that class but I can't seem to make my self study. any tips?

I have that same problem at times.what seems to work for me, is to just GO DO IT! i don't tell myself, "okay five more minutes" or "after a snack," or anything like that.just walk over to your study area, get your books, and GET TO IT.after like 10 or 15 minutes, you'll hopefully be so into it, that you won't stop and wont have to worry about it until you're done.
P.S: if you are studying for a long period of time, be sure to get 10 minute breaks every 1 hour.i know this goes against what i was saying, but studies say that you need to take a little break between long sessions to learn more effectively...when you are done with your 10 minute breaks, again just START with out thinking about anything else..HOPE THIS HELPS A BIT!
WHy do you have to get an A? If you "have to" get an A, what more motivation do you need?
think abt all da praises n compliments certificatres etc. u got frm all ur teachres n get inspired 2 study.make a timetable 2 play and manage everything else.ur grades r gud, think abt ppl hu hav got crap grades.
You could try to put the information on little index cards and write the information in different color ink.
Take small breaks in between studying.
take away all your distractions. go to the most "boring" room in your house and dont play music or turn on the TV. it's all will power unfortunately. If you can, study with someone else or make a game out of it. sometimes if i dont feel like studying, i just study for 20 minutes and then go do something i like and then come back an hour later and study again for 20 minutes.
Set yourself a time aside that you will only study. Once that time rolls around on the clock, devote it entirely to studying, no distractions. Reward yourself when you're done. The promise of a reward at the end of your study time should be incentive to actually get down to it.
You need to understand why you're not able to sit down and study. Is it because you feel overwhelmed or you feel the pressure of trying to achieve this grade? If so, you need to find a way to deal with that. If you're feeling overwhelmed, that often stems from having trouble organizing your time or the material you're studying. If you just don't feel motivated at all, maybe it's time to look at what you're studying. Is this something in which you're genuinely interested?
Try re-inventing study time. Find a different place or a different time of day to study. Give yourself a reward for doing a good job of studying, like going out for ice cream or renting a movie you've been wanting to see. Either way, something about your approach is not clicking and you won't become better at studying without looking at the process and your motivations closely.
I have that problem all the time! I am honestly the largest procrastinator the world may ever see. Nuthin' gets work done like the last-minute-push, but I think I've found a better way. Turn off all distractions- computer, tv, the works. If you must have something- make it soft playin' music (classical works pretty darn well). Grab yourself a glass of ice-cold coke (with caffiene) and a little snack and lock yourself in your room/dorm if you have too. Make little incentives for yourself- for instance, "When I read/study 30 pages, I can eat a snack" (or play a small game, take a rest, go outside for a few minutes, etc.). That way you have motivation to keep going. Good luck!! I fight the same battle!
i put on some music in the background (something mellow w/ low volume) and make sure i am free of distractions and interruptions. take a 5-10 minute break every 1/2 hour and when you ace that class give yourself a reward. the reward is what will help you study, especially if it is a good one.
Do some excercise, or touch base with a class mate that needs to study and study together. That is pretty intense class, fear is not a good thing, you be surprise of how much you already know of the terminology, use the same process that got you the 89, 82 and 100, practice makes perfection.
How smart you are! congratulations!!
Burn out? no motivation? See if this works. Spend 25 minutes studying, take a break, watch 15 minutes movie and get back to studies. Set a goal for a day and do it 25 minute intervals until goal is finished.
Do not be foolish and jeapordize your education. You whole future is right now in your hands. This is the time, the only time when everything is looking bright. Do not miss the boat. Do not be that regretting person later on cursing yourself for not having used this time productively. Love yourself and help yourself get there.
Just do it. You are very smart.

What I did was say:
Bismi Allah a Rahman a Raheem.
In the name of ALLAH SWT I will start.
Then I made the intention.
Then I did just that.
I read a memoir called "Unafraid of the Dark," and the girl's parents worked so hard to get her into college, and she was accepted into Yale, and her parents were really strict and she failed three classes the first semester because she took advantage of her freedom. She was really sorry and met with the dean, and he let her write 10-page essays for all of her classes within a week so she could stay. If you keep this in mind it might help as motivation, and soon you will be graduating. It is important to take breaks, but there is a difference between taking a break and procrastinating. Of course, it's easier said than done. But hang in there!
Wait a minute, you got an 89, an 82 and a 100 on your tests. Somehow, you must be studying already. I think many people think of studying as locking yourself in your room, sitting at a desk and burying your head into a book. But it doesn't have to be this way. Just looking over your notes in between classes, or making flashcards and practicing the terminology with friends, can count as studying. The thing is to not procrastinate, unless you have the whole day before to concentrate on your test. You just need to find whatever works for you.
Try to actually concentrate in what your learning honey it must help :)
