+ what would the cost of living add up to

Answers:
To get into med school inthe USA you need a four year BS or BA degree with course work in chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, calculus, physics and possibly other courses. You must score high on the MCAT examinations and have the recommendation of the faculty of your college. In American medical schools the proportion of applicants accepted for enrollment from the qualified applicants is from 1% in the most elite schools to around 40% in the less regarded public universities. If you are not very well qualified you will not be accepted anywhere. No medical schools take mediocre or incompletely qualified students. In rare cases a very small number of extremely exceptional students are accepted before they complete their BS. That is very unusual.

The cost at the private schools is about $50,000 per year. At some of the state schools the cost would be more like $20,000 a year if you are a citizen of that state.

There are very few scholarships but it is possible to borrow the money as a loan and then pay it back when you are a qualified doctor.
