Anyone ever go back to school in their 30's, get awful grades and decide to stop after one semester?

Question:I am 31 and a single mom. I was going to univeristy at home.. and I love it. But all my grades so far are in the 70's. I think I need 80 to pass? I don't know if I should just stop after this symester while I still only owe a little bit of money.. or if I should try again after the baby is born. (It is very possilbe that I am distracted with being pregnant and due in 16 days! I find it hard to concentrate on anything while going through so many mood swings)...

What is your opinion?

Answers:
I think that you have a lot on your mind when you turn 31. So, It is probablly not just the baby, it could also be this little thing called life. As far as being a good student, 70's are passing, but like anything else, once you stick to it long enough, you will learn how to be a better student. So, don't let it get you down. Tribulations are part of life, they make us stronger. Your road toward completing your education will take longer, but your future babies will appreciate it and they will have you as a role model.

Good Luck

First of all...know that learning has no age limit. You say you're getting 70's not 80's in your grades...you are not happy so ask yourself if you put in enough effort in achieving whatever grade you just received..or could you have done better. You are the best person to judge your own learning habits...don't pressure yourself ..just be satisfied and glad that you did well and that's what matters.

Secondly, you have a right to be distracted ...pregnancy and being a single mom does that to you..call it hormones..call it everything in the book..that's what it is.

Thirdly.. You've come this far...you only have so little more to pay...Don't quit completely...Talk to the education counselor or your lecturer...have your baby..take your maternity leave..after that make some arrangement so you can continue your course in the following semester.. By then you would be feeling better...

Last of all...You took this course because you love it.. Any education course can lead you and your baby toward a better future..A little bit of struggle now but a better tomorrow is what you are looking at. You set your self a goal but along the way sometimes we just have to stop to accommodate certain of life's givings...but that doesn't mean giving up totally on our goals..just put them off ...till you can include them again in your path.. I wish you and your baby all the best...
Don't quit altogether. If I were you, I'd try taking a reduced load until you're back in the swing of things. A 70 is usually a C, which is passable, though B's, in the 80's, do look prettier on the report card.
