Question:A brick wall 20 feet in length contains 1040 bricks. At this same rate, how many bricks would it take to build a wall 48 feet in length?

Answers:
The answer is 2496

Divide the total amount of bricks by how many there are in a foot.

1040 / 20 = 52/1

Therefore your ratio is 52 bricks per foot.

Now you can create an equation out of this

52(x) = y
Where x- is the amount of feet and y- is the total amount of bricks

Substitute what you're given into the equation

52(48) = y
y = ?

Do it yourself, I've given you a major hint
2496. It takes 52 bricks per foot (1040/20). Then, 48X52.
40 feet = 2080 bricks

4 feet = 1040/5 = 208 bricks

48 feet = 2080 + 208*2 = 2496 bricks
2496
just use proportions.

20 is to 1040 as 48 is to x.
x=2496

the answer is 2496 bricks
