Whats a good score on the SAT I if its the first time taking it?

personally, i think anything over 500 is`decent, anything over 650 is good, over 700 is amazing. collegeboard has slightly different standards, you can compare your scores to other people's by looking at percentile rankings. the percentage next to your score represents the percent of test takers you scored higher than. Basically, if you got a 630 on writing, you were in the 87th percentile, which means you scored higher than 87% of the people who took the test. The charts i found also show the number of people who got the same score as you.
